Crowning!

Miss Carrollton…these words have been replaying in my head repeatedly for the past two weeks. On October 8, an incredible dream came true when I was crowned as Miss Carrollton 2013. Believe it or not, my Miss Texas journey began 14 years ago. When I was eight years old, I had the opportunity to travel to Fort Worth and watch the 1998 Miss Texas Scholarship Pageant. I was in awe watching the amazingly beautiful, talented, and passionate women representing cities across our state. From that moment on, I vowed that I would be one of those women, and that I would be Miss Texas one day. Now, I have my chance! As Miss Carrollton, I will spend my year of service making appearances, speaking to elementary, middle, and high school students, promoting my platform, Autism Awareness: Finding the Gold, and educating others about the Miss Texas and Miss America Organizations. My year is already off to a great start! My first official appearance was for the Design Industries Foundation Fighting Aids, DIFFA Dallas. At Burgers and Burgundy, I met many of Dallas’ most talented designers in fashion and interiors. I also had the chance to learn so much about DIFFA and what an incredible organization it is. All of the funds raised from the event go to treatment and education in the Dallas area. I am honored to have been a part of such a wonderful evening. As my first two weeks of being Miss Carrollton are ending, I am in love with this job! My adventures have only just begun, and I cannot wait to see what the rest of this year has in store.

All of my love,
Brittney
